Ultrasound Imaging, is based on inaudible high-frequency sound waves that produce pictures of an embryo or fetus within a woman’s uterus.
General ultrasound Imaging uses the same high frequency sound waves to produce pictures of any part of the body – except those organs that contain air (like the colon) because these sound waves are scattered by air.
Doppler ultrasound is the study of blood vessels and blood flow through vessels and other body tissues. This ultrasound is used to detect blood clots in vessels and make sure that the proper blood flow is going to many organs.
Ultrasound uses only sound waves to obtain images of your unborn child. There is no exposure to radiation during an ultrasound.
